Civic Objective #13 Education, interview with a teacher and filling
out education related forms.
Teacher:  Hello, How are you today?

Student: I'm fine, thank you.

Teacher:  Carlos is doing very well in school this year.  Can you tell me where he studies?

You: Carlos studies in his room.

Teacher:  How long does he spend each night doing homework?  Reading?

You: He studies for 15 to 20 minutes.

Teacher:  What questions would you like to ask me about Carlos?

You: I want to ask about his reading level.

Teacher:  Your son’s reading level is appropriate for the grade level.  I encourage him to continue reading for 20
minutes per night at home.

You: How is his math?

Teacher:  His math level is slightly below grade level.  Please support him by encouraging practice of math facts
every evening.

You: Thank you, I will do that.

Teacher:  Thank you so much for coming to meet with me today.  Your support of your child’s education is
extremely important to his/her success.

Teacher:  How many minutes per night will you have your son/daughter read?

You: He will read at least 20 minutes.

Teacher:  What math activity will you have your son/daughter participate in nightly?

You: I will have him do his math homework.

Can you tell me something else that you can do to support your child in school?

You: I will have him play some math games on the internet.
